Greetings from the Intermountain IFT Board of Directors,  

In discussing the Intermountain IFT Workshop and Symposium 2021, we have come to a very difficult and disappointing, but appropriate decision to cancel this event.  Due to the recent and ongoing surge in COVID cases, we are not comfortable holding the Intermountain IFT Workshop and Symposium, a large, in-person event this October.  This decision is out of concern for the health and safety of each of us, our families, our coworkers, and our community.  Safety is always a priority and we do not want to put anyone at risk during these challenging times.   

WORKSHOP & SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATIONS: 

We will refund all workshop and symposium registrations on October 15th unless we hear from you. If you would like to roll over your registration to the 2022 IMIFT Workshop and Symposium, please e-mail [email protected] as soon as possible.   

SPONSORSHIPS: 

We greatly appreciate our sponsors!  Not only does your important sponsorship help offset the costs of the annual workshop and symposium, keeping the section viable, but it also provides much needed scholarships to our future food technologists graduating from Idaho colleges and universities.  Please let us know which option you would like to pursue with your 2021 sponsorship: 

• Donate the sponsorship to the IMIFT section in 2021 

• Roll over the sponsorship to the next annual workshop and symposium 

• Receive refund  

ROOM RESERVATIONS: 

Beginning immediately, the Sun Valley Resort team will refund all individual deposits and cancel all confirmed IMIFT Symposium sleeping room reservations.  Sun Valley Resort will continue to honor the contracted IMIFT Symposium nightly sleeping room rates for all guests who want to stay with Sun Valley Resort October 18 – 24, 2021, even though the symposium has been canceled for this year.  Please have all guests wanting to stay with Sun Valley Resort email [email protected] to confirm or reinstate their sleeping room reservation. 

2022 ANNUAL WORKSHOP & SYMPOSIUM: 

Please save the dates of October 19 – 21, 2022 for the next annual IMIFT Workshop and Symposium.  We are also working with the outstanding speakers scheduled for 2021 to have them join us next year.   

2022 SPRING LUNCH & LEARN: 

We are planning to host a spring lunch and learn in the spring as long as we can do so safely.  We will closely monitor the COVID situation and plan accordingly.
